The situation is a fictional trading game played with 100% fake money. There are no real trades, no payments, no wallets, and nothing of monetary value to win or lose.
What we collect
If you create an account: your email address and the handle you choose. If you play as a guest: an anonymous session tied to your browser, with no email. In both cases we store your game activity (trades, bets, results, streaks) — that's the game.
What we do with it
Emails are used to sign you in and, if you keep it on, to send the daily bulletin — every one has a one-click unsubscribe. Handles and results appear on in-game leaderboards. We don't sell your data, run ads, or share your email with anyone beyond the services that run the game.
Who runs the plumbing
Hosting by Vercel (including anonymous page analytics), database and sign-in by Supabase, email delivery by Resend. Game content is generated with Anthropic's API; your trades are sent there for judging, without your email or identity.
Your choices
Unsubscribe from email anytime via the link in any bulletin. To delete your account and its data, email play@thesituationgame.com from your account address and we'll take care of it.
